Richard Skaare - skaarecomm.com
After earning his B.A. in literature/writing and two graduate degrees (one in theology, the other in communication), Richard Skaare launched his career as a speechwriter and issues manager at Alcoa. He then helped public relations firm Burson-Marsteller build a corporate and financial communication capability in its Pittsburgh operation before moving on to head corporate communication for the newly formed Allegheny International (Sunbeam, Oster, etc.). Next, he turned to consulting and over ten years served dozens of clients, with considerable time spent managing crises, creating employee programs, and advising on communication strategies for AMP Incorporated, the world leader in electronic connectors. AMP eventually recruited him to build a consistent global communication program, which he did until the company was acquired in 1998. Subsequently, he developed marketing, organizational development, and corporate communication for Internet eLearning ventures, a telecom company, and an exhibits creator. He also advised a major foundation and a staffing firm on strategic programs, and helped train government officials in faith-based, community issues.
